Open for commissions

In the middle of moving what feels like a truckload of websites to a new host, but this is a pretty important announcement so I’m going to make some space for it:

I’ve been planning for months to post commission rates since I like doing commission work, and since I have an upcoming art festival to exhibit at (and my share of the booth to pay for) I thought, there’s no better day to do this than today!

Please note that these prices are special rates since (1) this is basically a fund-raiser for my participation in the art festival; and (2) I’m testing the waters, so to speak. I can’t make any promises that these will stay the same after September 1, 2008.

Illustration
Drawings will be done with black ink on 19×27cm watercolor paper. Detail will be similar to the drawings featured on my deviantART.

One figure: PhP 1000/USD 35
Per additional figure: add PhP 500/USD 20
With background: add PhP 500-1000/USD 20-35, depending on the detail of the background and its size relative to the paper (for instance, if you want the background to encompass the whole paper, please let me know — and it will probably cost 1000)
With color: add PhP 1000/USD 35

For drawings not featuring characters, please e-mail me (ephemere at gmail dot com) and I’ll be happy to discuss your idea with you.

What you get: The original artwork, plus a high-resolution .jpg scan. I will not sell prints of the artwork and will only use my scanned copies for portfolio/showcase/display purposes. I retain my copyright, though.

Calligraphy
This is a little harder to price, since everything is very much a case-to-case basis. I will normally charge PhP 500/USD 20 per 8.5×11″ page of calligraphy, for a level of detail/amount of letters similar to this.

How it works
Get in touch with me through my e-mail, ephemere at gmail dot com, with the details of your order (if you do reply here, please send me an e-mail as well so it’s easier to keep track of things):

1. Do you want a drawing or calligraphy?
2. Please describe what you want drawn or written, in as much detail as possible. Include character background, the significance of the poem you want written, etc etc…
3. If you have any preferences for the paper (I can use other colors, if you don’t want white), please let me know. Any other special requests? Bigger/smaller size? Want something done on my Moleskine sketchbook?
4. Would you like a dedication written on the back or front?

After we’ve agreed on the price and the details of the artwork (size, medium, etc), I’ll get to work on it. When I finish it I’ll provide the buyer with payment details, and once I’ve verified the receipt of full payment I’ll ship the piece to the buyer’s address.

Please note that the buyer will shoulder the shipping, and yes, I can ship overseas. I’m also available for meet-ups with local customers; in fact, I prefer that since I get to hand over the artwork myself.

As of now there is no limit to the commission slots, though in the (unlikely!) eventuality that I get swamped with orders I will have to be closed to commissions for a bit.
