On books and prints

August 31st, 2007

(cross-posted from Another Miyaw)

Hallo there! Again about books and prints. I’m, uh, really excited about this, can you tell? Haha. It’s the first time I’m showing my work to people I don’t know.

Prints. There are 11″x17″ prints (black and white, on 220 gsm paper; please note that unlike the previews they don’t have any text on the front, just the drawing) of Briar Rose and The Queen of the Underworld on sale at the Read or Die booth at the MIBF. They go for PHP80 each. I signed a few copies so if you’re interested in buying some you may want to get the signed (and titled) ones. If I’m in the area please feel free to ask me to write dedications and mini-doodles (though I messed up the doodle a while ago — sorry, had not slept, shaky hand) and basically whatever you like on the prints.

Part of the proceeds from the prints will go to Read or Die. (Actually if all of the prints sell, all the proceeds will go to Read or Die. So buying a print is like a donation or something! :D)

Books. I’m scribing four poems and collecting the calligraphy pages into a book. The book will be approximately 36 pages, printed on tan/beige parchment and handbound with a red/cream/apple green cover. Each book will be numbered and signed.

If you’d like a copy, please let me know by commenting here or e-mailing me at ephemere at gmail dot com. This is because I’ll be making a very limited number of these books. (I was planning to make more — I’d have them printed and bound at a printing shop — but decided that the calligraphy looks sucky on copy paper and it would really be better if I used parchment instead. And then, well, if you use parchment you might as well have a cute cover… So in the end it turns out I’ll have to do everything myself. I don’t really mind since I’m a slave to the prettyz.)

These are people who have reserved copies of the books (or have expressed interest in a copy*):
1. Bhex
2. Karen
3. Ia
4. Heli (dear, I’m not sure just yet how I’ll get it to you but I’ll reserve one for you)

I currently have enough material for eleven books. Since I’m reserving three copies for myself (Mia, Jake, and gift) there are four more books free for the taking. So if you’re interested in one, please please please let me know so I can estimate how many more packs of paper I should buy and how many books I should bind. And if ever I don’t get to make you a copy in time for Sunday, I can always make more after the book fair and just ship/deliver it to your address.

Notes on schedule. I was supposed to have the books at the book fair by Saturday morning, but I learned (just now…) that I won’t be able to go to the book fair tomorrow. I’m really sorry — transportation issues, plus my dad’s sick. I won’t even be able to go to my high school homecoming (sighhhhhh). I will most definitely be there on Sunday, though. Ugh. I’d commute to the book fair if I could, but trekking alone from Antipolo to Pasay with a huge portfolio and several heavy bags is not something I can do right now. So so sorry.

Happy stuff! People liked the prints! Yay. :D :D :D

@Keith: The bookfair is over so we don’t have a booth anymore. If you like I can ship one to your address or you can pick it up at Katipunan Avenue or UP. :)
